On September 29th, 2020, the PVPUSD Board of Education voted to approve the manufacturing of the turf that will be part of the Peninsula High turf sports field project.
“We are excited about being able to provide the Peninsula High students with a safe, multiuse sports field."
Peninsula High School is one of the only schools in the South Bay that still has a grass field and has been in need of an upgrade for years.
Funding for the Peninsula High Sports Field
A large portion of the new field expenses will be paid for through the use of accrued development fees in the school district. These fees can only be utilized for facilities improvements and enhancements. The PVPUSD Board of Education approved to utilize a portion of these funds to build a turf sports field at Peninsula High School.
Peninsula High School will need to raise funds to contribute to the portion of the expenses that will not be covered by the developer fee budget. This partially includes the services agreement and arcticture fees. It is estimated this expense will be approximately $250,000. Once the final bids for the project are approved, this amount could change.
